+1 my friend, +1. I can't even think of a good alternative because every field seems so shitty right now.luckyme wrote:things are looking wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down. i ate at a KFC all-you-can-eat buffet today and legitimately considered dropping off my resume--ultimately decided i can't take another rejection. way down. way, way down.
Right now the most attractive option is moving to another country and starting fresh.

Yeah man. I'm hoping to get some experience mopping floors in a courtroom. Brings you close to the action sorta.

I know the TLS record is 13 or whatever, but how common is it actually for someone with 4-6 CBs in a major market to strike out? Seem to be on my way.

Hello friends. It's a joke out here. And like someone said, everything's bad. It's not really like there are a lot of good opportunities in other fields. This Great Recession stuff is garbage.

Re: wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down
I struck out with 5 CBs in 2010. I'm not sure how common it is in general, but it felt awful. I ended up getting a gov gig later in the year. Best thing that ever happened to me. Obviously won't happen for everyone, but don't give up hope yet.Anonymous User wrote:I know the TLS record is 13 or whatever, but how common is it actually for someone with 4-6 CBs in a major market to strike out? You mean it is more like a depression?
Edit: Nvm, I think I misunderstood your post.

So the feeling is that firms are hiring less than the previous year? It is hard to tell going through the process for yourself without much to compare it to . . .

I think so, yeah. Have yet to speak to a firm that planned on increasing class size, though I've found plenty that are decreasing.lawyerwannabe wrote:So the feeling is that firms are hiring less than the previous year? check the nalp forms. every single firm i interviewed with is either holding serve or lowering the size of its class. and every single recruiter/hiring partner has basically said that when i inquired about size of class. "we want to be able to make an offer to everyone, so we are having a very lean class this year." i really think it's rougher this year than last year, but i'm not saying that to imply that last year was easy in any way.

Re: wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down
Yes, the NALP list of class sizes is very telling from last year to this year. It looks generally like classes increased a bit last year and now are flattening out for this year instead of increasing again. List is also extremely depressing since it contains pre-ITE info. My God, some V20s are down 100+ summers. If you are yearning for some fodder for your tears, look no further.Anonymous User wrote:check the nalp forms. every single firm i interviewed with is either holding serve or lowering the size of its class. and every single recruiter/hiring partner has basically said that when i inquired about size of class.
