How often does silence follow a callback
I've been waiting to hear back from a few firms I did callbacks with earlier in the month. How often do they just ignore the people they called back but didn't offer?

They will reject you, not just ignore you. It depends. They're not going to outright ignore you though.
The hiring committee might not meet every week. They might have postponed making a decision pending the other people they callback.

what does ignore even mean? are you contacting them and they aren't responding?

I got outright ignored by Winston CHI last year after a callback. So it does happen, but I think it's pretty rare.
