Does anyone know how tough it is to get a summer gig with the SEC after 1L? Having trouble finding info on selectivity. Thanks.

Depends on the market. Most satellite offices really want someone who has a demonstrated interest and/or background in securities.

T14 with solid grades or T1/2 top 1-5% with interest in securities. Very competitive, very valuable.
