on the spot offers

how does that work? a partner just gives you an offer during your cb, and you say yes?
what if you want to think about it, still say yes and then renege after?

I actually got an "exploding offer" at the end of the CB at the firm where I ended up. It was jokingly delivered though. Firms don't expect you to accept on-the-spot offers and would probably be suspicious of you if you did.
