I can easily say why they are a good fit for me (location, strength in my practice area of choice, etc.), but the other way around is much more difficult. and I don't wanna say empty crap like "I have strong research and writing skills" or "I'm a team player" etc.
Thoughts? Thanks.

Strong research skills and being a team player are not empty crap if you have examples to back it up.
The key to this question is to highlight skills that are transferable to the specific employer and tie those skills to tangible examples in your background.
