Leveraging an offer?
Has anyone ever used a W&C, Wachtell, Susman, etc. offer to get another firm to pay over market? Is this a terrible idea to even ask?

I don't think that would work, but if it was even a possibility it would only be at a boutique or small shop where associates aren't paid by class/year.

This. It might work if the firm is open to negotiating salary, but most have fixed salary scales. If you ask they will probably tell you to GTFO and go work for Wachtell if you want that money.dolia wrote:I don't think that would work, but if it was even a possibility it would only be at a boutique or small shop where associates aren't paid by class/year.
