cover letter for screening?
If the firm never requests a cover letter on symplicity, should I still bring one to the screening interview?

Do not write a cover letter or bring a list of references you do not already have for a firm that does not ask for them.

Did they ask for one? Things that you already have (writing sample, reference list, transcript, and resume), you should have extra copies with you for every interview. But if they don't ask for it, then don't go out of your way to have it ready. Is this really that difficult?Anonymous User wrote:what about writing samples?

I've had one firm ask for a writing sample even though they never said they would online. It was nice that I had one handy. But don't waste time making cover letters. They definitely won't ask for those. The point of a cover letter is to get you an interview. You already have that.

I thought his answer was spot on, and not really that jackass-ish.TheFactor wrote:you must have lots of friends, broHaymarket wrote:Did they ask for one?
