Callback, lunch, then dinner for callback NYC

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Aug 11, 2012 8:30 pm

I have an interview this coming week at a large NYC firm. It is a regular callback except after lunch they want me back for dinner with "several partners" (their words on the voicemail). Anyone ever experienced one of these type callbacks before? If so, what should I expect dinner to be like?

It's not that common but it happens. It'll be just like any other callback interview or meal - you'll chat, they'll ask about you and your background and you'll ask about the firm and everyone will have a good time.

Dinners can be quite lengthy in NYC, so be prepared to be out for a while. There's also a higher chance that alcohol will be involved, so get excited and/or be on your guard.

Op here. I have a callback the following day with another firm. Valid reason to decline any alcohol after drink 1 I assume?

You don't ever 'need' a reason to decline alcohol at an event like this, no worries. If there's drinking it's likely to be in the form of a bottle of wine or something; just work on your drink slowly.

If they offer a second and you don't want it, a simple 'no thank you' should do.
