White is nice because with a white shirt and a darkish suit you can get away with literally almost any reasonable tie. A blue shirt is definitely legitimate, but it's going to make your tie choice more hit or miss.

White is also definitely more classic interview attire, and arguably a bit more formal.

In the surburbs. And it's a TTT hell. I had to print my resumes on an inket. I had to trade my brother so I have a bed to sleep on. And I have to get up at an ungodly hour to register for this thing tomorrow morning.

For some firms or practice groups, you're still judged as "quirky" if you don't wear white. I know of three firms in DC with practice groups that will ding you for wearing blue.
