Good gift to get for a judge
that you've externed with all summer (and their clerks and secretary)? I need some ideas for a gift for the judge, clerks, etc as I am nearing my end date. Any suggestins or ideas? Something that I could give to the whole office would be ideal.

If it's a federal judge, are you sure you're allowed to give him or her a present? I externed for a federal judge and I was told by the judge's secretary that that judge didn't accept gifts. Maybe find out from the judge's assistant if that's the case?

Re: Good gift to get for a judge
The unpaid summer externs in my judge's chambers generally did not give gifts. Indeed, we took them to lunch their last day to show our appreciation and gave them good rec letters when they needed them. Don't feel obligated to give a gift, but if you do, keep it under $50 total to keep within the Judicial Conference guidelines (assuming your judge is federal).
