I think there was a combination of factors including crappy markets I applied to, having a resume exclusively featuring jobs in my home-market so it was an uphill battle convincing employers I wanted to be in Chicago (got asked this every time), terrible grades, maybe having too much of a PI/government based resume, and only having about 17 interviews.somewhatwayward wrote:What market? Assuming decent grades (ie, not bottom of the class) and average interview skillz, I would be surprised by a UChi student receiving zero CBs unless s/he was focusing only on DC, Chicago, or SF. But it is far from over at this point. If you still want a firm job, mass mail like crazy in NYC and anywhere else you have ties, and, in the mean time, try to improve your interviewing skills. Good luck!Anonymous User wrote:I've also struck out with no CBs. I suppose it's not official, official - still waiting to hear back from a screener I had the first day. Besides that one, received rejections from the rest.

I am so sorry to hear this. I'm sure you're already mass mailing and talking with OCS, so I have no advice to give, just support! Good luck - I really hope things work out for you!!Anonymous User wrote:^ Above poster. Aannnnnnnnnnnnnnd I officially struck out! Thanks, I've actually been too dead to mass mail really . I did sign up for a PI career fair thing in late October, where I may have some interviews if I get pre-selected. I guess I'll talk to OCS.
To who asked - the last firm was Sheppard Mullin DC, had them the first day of OCI.

If you email your Bryan Cave screener to follow up you get a ding in a few days, so that's nice.Anonymous User wrote:also DLA Piper, SNR Denton, Vedder Price and Bryan CaveAnonymous User wrote:I'm waiting on those two as well as Skadden AND Eimer Stahl. It sucks. Rejected by 3/4 of my OCI cbs, and the only outstanding one is from like two weeks ago. Waiting for the ding is like reverse Christmas.Anonymous User wrote:anyone still without offers and waiting on cbs?

You are not alone. Still have two outstanding post-CB decisions and one outstanding screener decision, but all are long past due and things are looking grim. Talked to enough people to know that there is a solid handful of us in this boat, at least.Anonymous User wrote:anyone still without offers and waiting on cbs?

Careful. Don't turn this into another "if you have an offer, give your books away for free" enterprise and end up like some asshole on ATL like last year.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry to hear you guys are in the same boat as me

What advice has OCS had for you? I am interested in seeing what words of wisdom they impart on those of us unfortunate enough to be in such a precarious position. I assume you have been mass-mailing as well, any luck with that? I wish I had something better than this generic advice, but I want to make sure that you are doing these things and not just waiting for the dings.Anonymous User wrote:Where was I when that happened?Anonymous User wrote:Careful. Yeah, I've been mass-mailing and got a few screeners. How's it been going for you?
First day of classes now, so not motivated to do anything

Re: UChicago OCI 2012
I've been to OCS a couple of times. Their advice was to email the people on that list of firms on Chalk (though not necessarily mass mailing), or consider public interest. And, of course, to keep hoping, because of course if I haven't gotten any CBs, it doesn't mean that some place that interviewed day 1 of OCI but hasn't called me back a month later might not still call!Anonymous User wrote:Haven't gone to OCS yet...has anybody here done so?Anonymous User wrote:What advice has OCS had for you?
