OCI - Duke Class 2014 - here we go

Post by WannabeBlueDevil » Fri Jul 27, 2012 7:26 pm

Hey everyone -

I know that our bid lists were submitted only a few hours ago, but I figured we could get this organized.

First question:
Now that the bids have been submitted, anyone know exactly what the numbers mean under Estimated 2L slots?
> I am guessing it means that not all the interview spots were full for all their offices? And maybe if you bid on them, you likely will get an interview with them?

Good luck all, and look forward to hearing from you.

Checking in. Not sure what the numbers mean, but I guess we'll find out on Monday.

Tagging. Hope I get a screener at Cravath and SullCrom. Putting them at two and three felt risky. I wrote in wachtell in 1. You can write in right?

Yeah, I think so. I dunno, I just typed in the secret code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, start) to unlock the next level of Symplicity where Wachtell is interviewing. I also upgraded to 60 bids, which was pretty cool.

When do we hear back from our bid results?
and
When do we see our interview schedule?

I'd imagine that we'd get our bid results relatively soon, maybe?

17/30. Only really upset about one that I didn't get in my top 10 and two others that I thought I could pick up later in my bidlist. Overall I am pleased.

18/30 - missed Gibson Dunn DC at 12, which was surprising. Otherwise pretty content.

Was your bidlist heavy DC? I can see someone who bid DC heavily having a high bid-conversion rate because of the grades necessary to land most DC firms.

Yeah. DC and one secondary market that has a sizable presence at OCI but most of the firms don't appear to have been fully bid. I threw in a few NY firms on the lower end and didn't get any.

CSO told me 16 was the average last year with most people in the 15-17 range. HTH everyone gauge how they did with their bidlists!

Edit: Congrats to the person with 18!

Yeah, it looks like NYC went quick. I had NYC firms at 7-10 and only got 2/4. Anyone have a crazy number of interviews on one day? I have 8(!) on the 15th.

Average at this point? Or after add/drops? Mine was terrible compared to this thread.
