what to do with SA $$$$
I know many of us are going to rack up 25K or so this summer, so, aside from paying tuitions or loans or paying living expenses for this upcoming year, what are you planning to do with it?
My parents are paying for law school and living expenses (although I will be paying them back for tuition but no interest is accruing so no pressure to pay ASAP), so I am not putting the money toward those things. I want to invest it somehow, maybe a mutual fund (or a couple, a safer one and a growth one)? Any recommendations?

Pool your money with some other SAs and charter a yacht in St. Barths for Christmas.

Pay your own tuition. Invest in yourself.

Agreed. You're likely paying a lower tax rate now than you ever will again, so it makes sense to invest in a post-tax retirement fund like a Roth.Wellsfargowagon wrote:Roth IRA.

It must be tough for you, having all this money and no loans to pay down with it.

Roth IRA > Index Fund > Mutual Fund.
As for me, I will use most of my SA $ to pay tuition so I have to borrow less and will be buying a nice computer.

Roth IRA, take the rest and invest it in equities. To be quite honest, there's really nothing that's worth investing in...if you want to have fun and yield 5%, research and try equities. Bond market sucks. Brazil is falling apart, China is unregulated, Europe is a DISASTER. Perhaps, India? If you're afraid to lose it, then wait until gold drops and buy it before we hit our double dip.

Some options trading, buy fancy camera, maybe a road bike, & take a baller vacation.
Edit: didn't read the OP well. The above are my plans.

No loans here. I put 5k in a Roth IRA (all in VWINX), 3k in VFINX, bought a nice watch and some professional clothes, and am keeping some cash for a rainy day. I'm planning on putting my tax refund into a Roth IRA as well .
