low gpa- now what?
I have a low gpa from a T30 school in the northeast ( mid 2.9x with a median in the mid 3.1x)... what should my strategy be to have the best chance of getting a job be? anyone in a similar boat want to share their method?

You have a pretty good chance at getting a job by applying at Starbucks.
But if you want a legal job you're gonna have to share w people here what you are interested in so you can get some specific advice. Advice ab small firms is gonna be pretty different than advice about DA offices.

I would do any kind of work... ties to NY and school is there ( not too hard to figure out what school it is now...) on secondary journal, not a urm.
