GPA cutoff question: stuck between two cutoffs.
Cutoff for 25% is 3.55 and 33% is 3.44 (hypo). If my GPA is 3.54, which cut off should I list?
According to my school, I must list the cutoff, not what range I fall under.

Our CDO says list it like:
"GPA: 3.54 [Cut off for top 25% of first-year section = 3.55]"
"GPA: 3.54 [Cut off for top 25% of first-year section = 3.55]"

So i should put 25% cutoff since I'm closer to it, rather than the 33% cutoff, which i fall under?Anonymous User wrote:Our CDO says list it like:

Not exactly. don't claim that you are at the 25% cutoff.Anonymous User wrote:So i should put 25% cutoff since I'm closer to it, rather than the 33% cutoff, which i fall under?Anonymous User wrote:Our CDO says list it like:

Do what the Anonymous User suggested, and show that you are close enough to be basically in that range. Whatever you do - do not claim to officially be in the 25% range since that would be false.

Not sure if it's the same for every school, but our school makes us put both cutoffs we are in between if you try to list it that way. They would not allow you to just put the upper cutoff if you do not fall into it.
Ex. GPA 3.54 (Top 25% cutoff 3.55; Top 33% cutoff 3.44) or GPA 3.54 (Top 33%), but NOT GPA 3.54 (Top 25% cutoff 3.55)
Ex. GPA 3.54 (Top 25% cutoff 3.55; Top 33% cutoff 3.44) or GPA 3.54 (Top 33%), but NOT GPA 3.54 (Top 25% cutoff 3.55)

I believe my school would suggest doing what the first anon suggested.
I would check with your school, but it is better to do that than to just say 33%.

This is what my school suggests too. I'm in the same predicament--only .02 below 25% range and I put this (numbers changed) on my resume (as advised by my career planning center):
"G.P.A.: 3.54 (G.P.A. of 3.55 = Approximate Top 25%)"
