GULC transfer 2012 OCI Bid List HELP!

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:03 pm

Alright I have tried to research extensively on TLS and I was hoping to put my GULC OCI bid list up to criticism (or for others to use i guess).
-Transferred from 65-75 TT top 5% (I am basically the cutoff to be within the top 5%)
two years W/E with a non profit (going to have to explain that to any potential employer)
Grew up in Manitoba so no ties anywhere (though I am a dual citizen and wish to remain in the U.S.)

-Final points...interested in lit or transactional, Want to work in DC (some family lives here) but want a job enough that I basically split with NY
-tried to find good summer class sizes
-Have a lot of interview experience so i anticipate at least not blowing any but you never know
without further ado, please laugh at me (and let me know) if any of the firms seem like jokes, mistakes or downright bizarre and what I could put in their place)

V&E NY is pretty small, only have 7 summers this year. seems odd as your first bid

OP here
Fairly interested in oil and gas stuff so I figured for my literal number one bid might be worth it but you make a good point

I think you are aiming way too high. Firms like wilmer and cleary are not gonna happen. I would move a lot more safety type firms into your top 20 and pick one or two more selective firms to take a chance on.

Keep in mind that by transferring you are getting increased access but firms still will view you as a good student from a crappy school.

OP again appreciate the replies and the honesty

Xm are you mostly thinking that my DC top ten is off or do you think the NY is way too far as well and more safety across the board?

Jessuf I dont quite understand what you mean by the order I ranked them? you think too many reaches as well but keep a few V5/10?
