I'm wondering what TLSers thoughts are on the different type of OCI/EIP/etc. bidding systems. My thought process has always been that people with high GPAs benefit from pre-select systems, while people with median and below GPAs stand to benefit from lottery systems. Are there any other advantages/disadvantages to the different type of bidding systems that I am overlooking?
Just interested in what type of selection systems people prefer and also if any knows or wants to take a guess at why different schools choose different types of systems, I'd be interested in that as well. It seems to me that even among peer schools there is a variation in the type of bidding used.

Re: Pure Pre-Select vs. Pure Lottery vs. Hybrid
I was being facetious, but I actually do think that the lottery system is not as disadvantageous to top and above-median students as people seem to think. After all, how many top students from schools with a pure lottery do you know who did not get offers from top firms and expected it? The big difference is to firms, for whom the ability to pre-screen is obvious.dixon02 wrote:No you didn't.
