I was a 1L SA at a firm in Seattle and did not attend SU or UW law schools. I did not go to undergrad in the area. Received two CBs from Seattle firms and offers from both CB. I also did a CBs with two firms prior to heading back to law school.

Sorry- For clarification, are you saying that you had two CB's/offers for your 1L summer? Or, are you saying that you already have 2 offers for your 2L summer? If the second, congrats, those are the first offers I've heard of for Seattle for next year! Granted I'm at a local school and most people are just starting their CB's this week.

Alright...reviving this thread. I can't say too much since it's hard to remain anonymous in such a small market.

I have UW "friend(s)" who have done callbacks at the Seattle offices of Cozen, Garvey, Graham & Dunn, and upcoming at PC and K&L--with a string of rejections from other smaller firms.

My real question is, do any of you know of anyone with offers from any Seattle firms, or how long they usually take to get back after a callback?

Also, do any of you know which Seattle firms are comfortable/allow a 2L split?

Last year some offers were going out to UW people as late as the first couple weeks of classes. In general, I think you should hear back by 2-3 weeks after a CB.

Regarding splitting, I know that alot of the smaller/"regional biglaw" types do NOT like to allow spliting, but the satelite office of the bigger firms are more likely to allow it.

If you have any other questions about seattle or the SA process just ask.

Callbacks at Cozen, Riddell Williams, PC, WSGR, Lane Powell, Miller Nash. No word from any of them yet. Looking at this thread from last year, it looks like stuff didn't start going out until next week-ish.

Also being super vague: Ding from one of the techies, heard from another techie that they haven't met yet, and offer from one of the larger firms. Also agree that next week is probably more likely for some news.

Hillis has interviewed 1 from UW for a callback.... and, I hear they tend to take it slower than most. I know of a few strong applicants who haven't heard anything from them since OCI...

Anonymous User wrote:I have worked in Seattle and can echo what was said above. The market is brutally small and insular. Even with ties, there are just not enough jobs to go around, so it will still keep you outside the fence if you don't just connect well with an interviewer or something. Also, most firms there tend to pay between 100-130, so don't expect a real biglaw salary unless you score Perkins Coie or K&L Gates (these might be 145 though? Don't remember).
I am at DCNG and have some Seattle ties (siblings living there). I got a Perkins Coie callback from OCI but cancelled because of options elsewhere. So you can at least get a shot at Seattle w/o lifelong ties. But the reasons cited above were a big part of my decision to cancel. Even Perkins Coie only starts at 125, although they are at 160 in the other markets. And the market is very limited in terms of opportunities (in-house, lateral, whatever) to live out a full legal life-span.

I asked in the screener and they said they were going to do callbacks in a week or 2 and they admitted they were slower than others. Dings at Graham and Dunn and DWT

Good to know. At the end of my screener they asked if I was planning to be in Seattle anytime soon (I go to school in NorCal) and I figured they wouldn't ask if they weren't at least considering calling me back, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Are those post cb or screener dings? I haven't heard of too many cb dings yet. Want to brace myself if they are starting to come.
