UVA bid list, top 25%
I am right at/above top quarter cutoff (3.48-3.50). I want corp in NYC and have some secondary markets that I will throw bids at in the bottom 15 of my list. Anything I should take off (I've already left out S&C, Cravath, Cleary, Paul Weiss, Debevoise because they seem to be stretches)? Any glaring omissions? How is the order? Thanks.

Kasowitz doesn't really have corporate work. They're 99% lit, with real estate being their only real corporate work. So I'd leave them off your list given your interests.

Ok thanks. What about selectivity of firms? Not aiming too high?xcountryjunkie wrote:Kasowitz doesn't really have corporate work. They're 99% lit, with real estate being their only real corporate work. So I'd leave them off your list given your interests.

Not a bad idea. They'll probably preselect you.Anonymous User wrote:I guess hoping they preselect me since they have 60 interview slots. bad idea?Morgan12Oak wrote:Why is Skadden and Weil so high and DPW so low?
I had almost identical grades and bid list two years ago and did fine. If your resume is decent you will get the maximum number of interviews.
Consider Debevoise and Cleary if you think you are a strong interviewer. Paul Weiss seems to have a hard cutoff around 3.55-3.60 and their strong suit is litigation, anyway.

Thanks. Would it be stupid to put a firm like DPW at the bottom of my list (as I did) with the hopes that they will PS me? I only ask this because they are one of the firms that has 60 interview slots, I think tied for the most of any office, so it seems like even if people bid these heavily I'd still have a decent shot at a PS.RVP11 wrote:Not a bad idea. Whoops, didn't realize you already answered this above. I think I am a strong interviewer, or at least above average, but I'm sure everyone thinks that. Guess I'll give Cleary/Debevoise a shot if they don't have a hard cutoff.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks.
