Job Fair: Bid even if potentially unavailable?
Would it be wrong to bid on XYZ's Job Fair interview slots if I'm unsure I'll be available the day of the fair? Going to the fair would require travel, and I would not be in a position to make travel plans until after the bidding window closes. For the sake of this post, let's say it's 50/50 that if selected for interviews, I would have to cancel. Bidding is preselect only, there is of course an alternate system, but the window to accept/decline interviews might come and pass before I could make definitive travel plans. So: Faux Pas?

Talk to career services. There are often specific rules governing each fair on this issue.

OP here. Thank you. I have contacted the reached out to my school's CSO (the person organizing the fair), but have received no response. If I do bid, I need to start researching firms now, so I'd still be interested in hearing TLS' two cents..eandy wrote:Talk to career services. Look back at the email you got from CSO with your username/password. Sometimes rules are listed there. There may also be a site for the fair separate from simplicity with rules.
Alternate spots do not necessarily mean you can cancel if you get interviews. They may be for the situation where someone exceeds the maximum allowed interviews.
