Layoff city. We're all worried about the multi-hundred billion dollar federal budget cut to defense that's about to happen.

Currently work for a general contractor who almost exclusively does DoD work, and as previous comments noted, outlook is not great. The next couple of months will be telling, all these agencies will be putting out contracts like mad. They have to award them before the end of the fiscal year to justify their budget. If you want to see whats coming out to bid go to fbo.gov, there's everything from construction to space vehicle research contracts on there.

To clarify, if the budget sequestration goes through as currently planned, this sector will lose thousands of jobs starting in October. Northrop, Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon... these guys are serious players in the global defense market and they're gonna get hurt BAD.
