Taking questions about being a midlaw summer associate.
Summering at one of the main offices of a firm in the lower NLJ 250 (so technically biglaw I guess but a very midlaw feel). Taking questions an hours, the summer program, how much associates work, etc.

1) what school do you go to?
2) how did you find the job?
3) what market?
4) what's the pay like?
5) what are the hours like?
6) do they have you rotate or do you have to commit to a practice area?
7) what's the size of the summer class?
8 ) how many attorneys in that office? In that firm?

2)
Firm website. Had a contact who knew some people there.
3)
Big non-coastal city. Low COL.
4)
Around 2K a week for me.
5)
Me: 8-6. I've noticed that the more junior associates/associates with deadlines are doing 8-7, everyone else is doing 8-5/8-5:30.
6)
My firm is essentially a boutique in that its highly specialized. I do, however, do work for each of the few practice groups we have.
7)
Class, lol.
8 )
50. Won't answer firm wide since you can figure that out pretty easily from NALP.

I'm going to be the only SA at a mid-size firm. How is it getting to know everyone? I imagine there are not many organized social events.. lots of lunch dates and coffee breaks with the associates?

More just getting to know everyone thru the events the firm would have anyway. But the plus side is that there is only you so the getting to know you seems less perfunctory since they don't have 100000 summers to decide theory time between.Anonymous User wrote:I'm going to be the only SA at a mid-size firm.
