1L Summer Offer Conflict
I have an offer to intern with a Federal District Court judge but also a 1L summer associate position with an NLJ Top 250 firm. My interests are primarily in business and security regulation. What do you think is the best route to take given that I've wanted to work for the SEC for sometime but am still open to the big firm life. Will a 1L SA job turn in to a 2L sSA position as long as I don't blow it?

Depends on the firm. I think a lot of biglaw firms are looking to bring back their 1L SAs. I would take the paid position definitely though, even if you don't want to work at a firm eventually.CSKNJ wrote:I have an offer to intern with a Federal District Court judge but also a 1L summer associate position with an NLJ Top 250 firm. Edit: Have you already accepted the 1L SA offer? If so, definitely do not renege on them. The legal community is small.

The firm will pay you. The judge will not. That's really all you need to consider.

Just out of curiosity, where do you fall in your class ranking and is the firm in Philly?
