Seems like an acknowledgment, not a rejection.

What is your question? You are just begging for snarkiness...

'cause, if you are asking if despite your letter's language being entirely un-ambiguous, there is a hidden or rather implied message that you are meant to surmise based on unfounded assumptions, then yes, you were clearly rejected.

OP here, sorry for being so obtuse and overthinking things. I have received a lot of rejections and never an acknowledgment (other than by e-mail). Maybe I am learning to see rejection wherever I look?

Well, I'm a believer that good things happen if you stay positive.
