Jones Day DC
I know Jones Day's DC office has been doing screeners for 1L SAs over the past few weeks - has anyone heard back from them? I had a screener last week but no news yet.

Re: Jones Day DC
A 1L at Berkeley had a screener over the break. She then got an offer from another firm with a drop-dead date. She asked JD-DC if they could accelerate their decision timeline-- so she got a decision. Unfortunately it wasn't what she wanted to hear since they were her #1 choice-- but she took the bird in the hand.Anonymous User wrote:I know Jones Day's DC office has been doing screeners for 1L SAs over the past few weeks - has anyone heard back from them? Any idea how long the turnover of CB to offer was?Anonymous User wrote:I know that at least a couple have done CBs in DC and at least one got an offer.

Generally quick, like a day or two - but this is second hand and very anecdotal.Anonymous User wrote:Any idea how long the turnover of CB to offer was?Anonymous User wrote:I know that at least a couple have done CBs in DC and at least one got an offer.

Well, just because it went fast for the offer I heard about doesn't mean it always does. Like I said, that is just one example. Good luck!Anonymous User wrote:Not good news for me, but thanks for the info.Anonymous User wrote:Generally quick, like a day or two - but this is second hand and very anecdotal.Anonymous User wrote:Any idea how long the turnover of CB to offer was?Anonymous User wrote:I know that at least a couple have done CBs in DC and at least one got an offer.

I wish they would just call one way or the other where I don't have to constantly watch my phone.

I suppose this is a hopeless question given the apparent number of callbacks already, but what're the odds of getting a CB from a video-Gchat screener two weeks ago?

Re: Jones Day DC
Anyone know if rejections come via snail mail or e-mail? How about how many people they were inviting down for callbacks?

I'm in the exact same spot as you - no update yet and I really doubt that good news is on the way. Also just got a ding after a CB for another firm in DC after thinking that the interviews went really well. I really hope the problem is the small number of 1L non-diversity SA positions available and not me!Anonymous User wrote:I suppose this is a hopeless question given the apparent number of callbacks already, but what're the odds of getting a CB from a video-Gchat screener two weeks ago?

During the gchat video interview they said that they would get back to me within one week, but the CB came by phone in substantially less than a week.Anonymous User wrote:I suppose this is a hopeless question given the apparent number of callbacks already, but what're the odds of getting a CB from a video-Gchat screener two weeks ago?
While I am certainly not the authority on this, I wouldn't jeopardize any other opportunities to keep waiting if two weeks have already gone by. I'm sure it's possible that you could still get a CB at this point, but I think they were only taking 2-3 1Ls total.

Do you mind saying what range of school / grades / WE / etc. you have?Anonymous User wrote:During the gchat video interview they said that they would get back to me within one week, but the CB came by phone in substantially less than a week.Anonymous User wrote:I suppose this is a hopeless question given the apparent number of callbacks already, but what're the odds of getting a CB from a video-Gchat screener two weeks ago?

Got a snail mail ding from a screener a couple weeks ago. Interestingly enough included a hand written addendum, don't know if this is common practice for JD but it was the first time I've seen a large firm do that. Got the sense that they're looking for something specific beyond grades / fit. WE/IP maybe?Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the exact same spot as you - no update yet and I really doubt that good news is on the way. Offer this week many weeks after the callback. The hiring partner seemed to indicate that they would be extending a few more offers.

So, it looks like 2 offers have been confirmed on TLS, and they are hiring 4 or 5 1Ls. Is it safe to assume that both TLS offers are accepting? If so, there would be slim pickings (if anything) left for the rest of us...
