Too late for big law this summer? Top 1-2% at 50-55
Just got the last my grades in yesterday, and needless to say I'm ecstatic.
My adviser told me not to send anything in on December 1st and instead to focus on finals, now I'm wishing I had ignored that advice. Any thoughts on applying for a 1L SA position this late? Is it worth the time or should I focus on a federal or appeals internship?
Thanks for the input.

lol agreed, congrats on the grades man. I would imagine it would still be worth the trouble of throwing out an application, you never know.nucky thompson wrote:Lol - given the result, maybe the advice to focus on finals was spot on

Many programs are waiting on grades. If you hurry I think you still have a good chance at some firms

Congrats on the grades. For some firms they will be finished hiring (if they are hiring 1Ls at all) but many will not and so it's definitely worth your time to send some applications out. Even with your grades, however, it will still be tough land biglaw, so make sure you are sending apps out to judges, government, PI, etc.

Send out a shitload of direct mail apps and see what happens?
Not really sure what kind of advice you're looking for here other than that, but congrats on nailing finals. Do it again and transfer somewhere good.
