(how) should i respond to a holiday gift from SA law firm
Current 2L received a fleece from the firm I will be an SA at. Should I send a thank you card/email? Do I even need to respond? If I do send an email/card, who should I send it to? Recruiting?
Thanks for the help.

It never hurts to say thank you and wish people a happy holiday. I would always respond with a thank you for a gift just so they know you received it.
Send a two or three line thank you email to recruiting.

And legal recruiters across the country are wondering why all the thank you notes for the holiday gifts came within 1 hour.

Guys, when Mitt Romney says corporations are people too, you're not supposed to take him that seriously.
If you have a relationship with the recruiting department or it's clear it came from one individual, thanks may be in order. But if you're talking about your average Vault Ranked Corporate Megadeath Law Firm there isn't even an appropriate entity to thank. Somebody in recruiting send a list of names and addresses to a company that specializes in meaningless holiday gifts. They're doing it to look good to future recruits, not because they love you.

Maybe I am too Southern, but why do you ever question whether to say thank you when someone sends you a gift?? Even if it is from a "Vault Ranked Corporate Megadeath Law Firm" ...

I think that you now have to buy a fleece jacket for the entire firm.

because you aren't thanking a personlawfirmrecruiter wrote:Maybe I am too Southern, but why do you ever question whether to say thank you when someone sends you a gift?? Even if it is from a "Vault Ranked Corporate Megadeath Law Firm" ...
and even if it was, the "person's" motive isn't your welfare

I heard a firm no-offered someone for not sending a thank you. They said it showed he was irresponsible. Now he is doing doc review.Borhas wrote:because you aren't thanking a personlawfirmrecruiter wrote:Maybe I am too Southern, but why do you ever question whether to say thank you when someone sends you a gift??
