Can we have a mod alter the second half of OP? Even if not a prank, it's a dangerous accidental out.

From what I've gathered from speaking with people who got offers and who saw what the actual offer process was like, the rule of thumb is that, so long as you don't entirely bottom out, you are fine. Get a good amount of C's, and you might have problems. But anything short of that likely won't matter.

Can c3p04 please delete the quoted text? Thank you. Did not mean to out someone like that. Would appreciate if the quote was taken down.

Quote from a JD hiring partner to all SA's at a lunch w/ the PIC and other partners (large secondary market):
"You're grades do not matter at all anymore. Period. So stop worrying about them."
edit: I was also told by a partner that nobody gave a crap about 2L grades unless you get an F or a bunch of C's.

FWIW, I'm at an MVP and I know for a fact that the LA, Atlanta, and Cleveland offices have dug to median (and below) in recent post-ITE years, the NYC office seems to be looking for top 1/3, and the DC office probably requires top 1/4 at a minimum.

Any idea about the OC office? More or less competitive than others?Anonymous User wrote:FWIW, I'm at an MVP and I know for a fact that the LA, Atlanta, and Cleveland offices have dug to median (and below) in recent post-ITE years, the NYC office seems to be looking for top 1/3, and the DC office probably requires top 1/4 at a minimum.

Re: jones day grades
The caveat is that they're bigger on fit than most firms. I was top 1/4-1/3 at H and didn't get a CB to one of the satellite (LA/SF/TX/ATL/CHI) offices, and I know people with worse grades who got CBs and offers.Doritos wrote:I concurAnonymous User wrote:FWIW, I'm at an MVP and I know for a fact that the LA, Atlanta, and Cleveland offices have dug to median (and below) in recent post-ITE years, the NYC office seems to be looking for top 1/3, and the DC office probably requires top 1/4 at a minimum.

I remember my screening interview with them. It was a two-person interview team. I literally didn't say a word during the entire interview because, in trying to show just how collegial Jones Day is, the two interviewers never stopped talking to each other.
