3l at t-20 (top 25%) received a big law offer today at v-25 in a major market. I Had no SA position.

For the rest of the 3L's out there just keep applying and networking.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like all the information you're comfortable sharing about how you landed the job. If tt was through networking, what kind? I've always thought the cold-emailing alums for informational meetings, etc. was rubbish at Vault firms.

OP here, This was from a job listing posted on the firm website. Don't under estimate cold emailing it definitely helps -find alumni in your desired practice group and email them a copy of your apps.

Cold emails can work, you just can't expect them to. Hiring depends on whether the firm has an opening and even if they do, they probably still get a ton of resumes, so while yours might stand out from others coming from a partner within the firm, it still doesn't guarantee you an interview or offer. If there's a job listing AND you've contacted an alum there, that's probably the best shot you have.

How quickly did the interview process take? Had you been waiting since Sept/Oct or was the job posted recently? Was it for a specific practice area?

OP here. Thanks for the congrats. I agree it the best present I could have asked for. Its with a specific practice area. Total process took about a month.

BTW, I know of another 3L who had no SA who got a big law offer about a month ago too. So despite TLS's doom and gloom the battle isnt over yet.

I have a "3rd round" interview with the department chair of a biglaw firm right after new years. Hopefully this will be the last round of interviews.

Going to be a tense christmas for me........
