I believe I heard that sending at midnight is improper--the correct time to send is 1a? Is this true, or does that only apply for firms in the central time zone (if you're on the east coast). I have all of mine "save as draft' on gmail ready for me to click "send."
Midnight seems the most logical in that you want to be the first e-mail there when the
hiring partner gets into work and checks his/her email first thing in the morning. Psychologically, only the first and last gets remembered, right?
People are sending them to hiring partners and not recruiting contacts?
I'm sending mine to the recruiting contact because that seems like the point of the recruiting contact.
And LOL at the idea that you'll somehow be benefited by having your email arrive at 1am.

I think it is just a matter of the firm's preference. Sometimes the hiring partner is listed as the recruiting contact.

It's neither good or bad. It won't matter. It seems ridiculous for a firm to base their selection of the most coveted (and limited) 1L summer job on who sends the app in during the first hour, day, week, without grades. It's a buyer's market, I assure you they won't only be looking at the first 10 resumes.

Send to recruiting contact.
Don't send any time prior to 6am. You'll come off as an insufferable striver.

Some mail servers batch attachments at night. I wouldn't trust send/receiving times as indications of personal quality.

Anybody applying for a 1L SA already is one. Hiring person probably thinks that about every applicant.

Yeah, I was asking because I want to get it completely out of sight and out of mind; it has nothing to do with being noticed first.
I'd rather focus on exams, and its so hard to do right now with this stuff hanging over my head.

Sorry. send your judge internships ASAP if you want it bad. Judges hire first come, first serve once they find what they like. If you wait to Christmas, you might not have the selection you want.

I've been hearing mixed reviews on this. I don't get why you post anon, it'd be nice to know if maybe you're speaking from experience or not. Anyway, I'm busy with exams. As soon as exams are over I'll get to work on this shit. Also, jud internship isn't HUGE to me, but just seems the best fit, seeing as how I don't know what kind of field I want to get into, and hearing generally good things about it.

This does not apply to all judges. A friend of mine clerked with a district judge in the south and they sent apps in Feb or March and were fine. It depends on your market. Check with judges you're interested in by calling them and ask their clerk/secretary what they want and when they want it and how they want it sent in.

I think the point is that there are judges who won't hire until grades are out and there are those who will hire before then. If you wait until January you have low chance at the ones who hire without grades. However, if you apply early you have an equal chance at all of them.

For places like the Texas court of appeals and district courts in Texas the site only says to send in one resume and cover letter, does that mean I shouldn't apply individually to every judge?

Keep in mind the advice you're receiving - People telling you to wait to send might themselves be sending early. These are your competitors giving you advice...

Yea people will do anything to get a leg up in this market. I sent out everything around midnight and already got a couple dozen responses.

Lol. Let me guess, at best you got something along the lines of:
"Autoresponse: Your application has been received."
You're funny. I like you. When the world is mine, I will kill you last.

Yeah, I got some sweet responses, too. They included "apply for diversity fellowship or piss off", "Out of office, probably drunk", or the most popular thus far, "I'm on maternity leave, so go bother someone else you obnoxious fuck".
Did get one offer for an informational interview from a v100, which I guess is more than one can expect in these situations.
