Does Sidley NY ask for grades?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Oct 27, 2011 9:01 am

going here next summer. haven't exactly been motivated to work my hardest in school since accepting my offer. can anyone who was a SA in a past year share if they ask you for 2L/3L grades & possibly don't make or revoke permanent offers on the basis of grades? i'm inclined to think no, since they aren't too picky on grades to begin with, but i don't want to assume anything & end up getting burned. thanks!

No, this was not by me, though I think OP has a pretty common concern.

I was a transfer to CLS and worked at Sidley NY last year. They no-offered me because I got a B+ in Goldschmid's corporations class.

This is either a troll or I would never take an SA at Sidley.

Not to encourage gunning, but if you ever want to lateral, almost all firms will at least request your transcript. They may not care too much, but getting dinged when trying to lateral because you ended up with bad grades is probably at least as likely as any large firm no offering you due to bad grades.

This is true if you're trying to lateral 1 or 2 years in. Other than that, it's wrong.
