W&C doesn't really do IP lit, where as Covington does and is quite good at it, so if you're SURE you want to do IP lit and that's a bigger factor than anything else, then you should go to Covington.
But in the absence of prior experience in the area, I would caution you against being sure that you want to do a certain practice area. IP lit isn't so different from regular litigation in terms of the day-to-day. Unless you have some technical background I find it hard to believe that you only want to do IP lit. If that's the case, then you want to consider mostly fit, since W&C and Covington are both top-notch firms.

If you're dead set on IP lit, Covington may be the better option for you. But if you're interested in working at the best litigation shop in DC and one of the best in the country and can deal with working on non-IP matters, go to W&C and don't look back.
