I think W&C is not a firm you turn down for IP at a non-IP boutique. I think even if I wanted IP I'd take W&C because I've heard excellent things, not only about the firm but the culture, but to each his own I suppose.

Covington DC has a strong IP lit practice - both life sciences (particularly pharma) and software/electronics. They've been expanding this practice over the past few years.

On a side note - I think the value of TLS is dropping rapidly and polls like this are less than helpful because I've seen fewer and fewer 3Ls or grads posting.

General commercial and financial lit. They are one of the few firms that both has financial litigation ability and a willingness to oppose the banks, since they don't depend on them for corporate work. They also have a bunch of insurance firms as clients.

They actually have a pretty strong team out in NY. Yeah, they're Band 4 on Chambers, but their general litigation is Band 3 for NYC and you suck their dick pretty nicely above.

This is an exaggeration on two fronts. First, I didn't actually say they are good at anything (and I'm not now saying they suck). I only said that the work they do is mostly general commercial, insurance/reinsurance, and a little securities lit. And saying they are "strong" in IP in New York is misleading. They might in fact have a few notable IP people in NY, but so do Cadwalader and dla piper, and I wouldn't call either of those places IP lit firms.

Is this a joke? Look up their website. They have 20+ IP lit partners based in NY and apparently many more associates.

Such a ridiculous idea to say a firm's IP litigation isn't looking good because they lost a case, even a big one.

Since you're anonymous making such a comment, why not extrapolate on why you believe this to be the case. Explain away the logic that seems to invalidate your post.

They represented an A-list IP client in the fiercest IP market possible and they got their shit kicked in.

It's not the fact that they lost but how badly they lost; just look it up, they did not fair well at all and it should have been a closer case than it was.
