NYC Law Dept - Salary & Exit Options?
Have a final (3rd round) interview next week. Anyone know the rate of how many offers at the 3rd round stage. I heard most people think its just a meet and greet, and then dont get an offer.
Also, the website says start at 62K with a raise after 1 year of service. Anyone know what this raise is like?

They have a NALP form. It states the entry level salary is 63ish.

Yes i know its on their website too. It says specifically, with a raise after one year of service. I was wondering if that raise was at all substantial. And also wondering about exit options, b/c i know most people stay about 3-5 years.Geist13 wrote:They have a NALP form. It states the entry level salary is 63ish.

What's the hiring criteria, grade and school wise? (T10, slightly below median here)

Seriously? You worry about exit options EVEN when you go to the government? As someone who has a very close friend there working, I can tell you that you may not fit in well with the office.

Other government organizations within the city/state, commercial law firms, other divisions within the department, some go to crim. law (DA, small/mid shops). etc.
I am surprised that your interviewer said that. I heard there are many "lifers."

Re: NYC Law Dept - Salary & Exit Options?
there are no substantial raises and the exit options are idiosyncratic; it's not biglaw where you have hundreds of people every year leaving and you can track that data. You probably shouldn't take the job unless you have no other option or are planning on staying there.Anonymous User wrote:Yes i know its on their website too.
