Struck out at OCI, and am considering alternative career options. One thing I was thinking about is a JD/MLS and going into a law librarian career. My school (a T25) also has a really good (highly ranked) MLS program and offers a joint degree. On a full ride for law school, so I might be able to get the 1 year MLS funded as well.
Have an IT professional background and have always been thinking about being a librarian. Figure with increasing technology, IT knowledge might come in handy.

Sounds awesome. Good thing you don't have any debt. I think a librarian job can be really cool. I interviewed my school's libraries a year ago for an article and it's like running a multi-million dollar business--real nice stuff.Anonymous User wrote:Struck out at OCI, and am considering alternative career options. I think your IT background would definitely come in handy. The law librarians I've talked to have all loved their jobs and the lifestyle seems about as good as it can get in the law. You won't be rich, but you will be able to have a life outside of the law.Anonymous User wrote:Struck out at OCI, and am considering alternative career options. Anyone know about the employment opportunities for law librarians these days? I would hate to jump from frying pan into the fire. I figure with all the new cooleys and TTTs, jobs are probably growing a bit.
If I stay in law, I might be able to find something in my home city using connections. Of course, it would be smallaw w/ low salary and high stress.
