So when one firm told me that the hiring partners were called out of town, I decided to presume the firm was being honest. Now that a second firm has told me the same "shpiel," I'm realizing its not true.
What's up with that? Why not just say "we're waiting on outstanding offers"??

I've heard from 3 firms the hiring partners are on a retreat. Its definitely a tactic they use.

oh my gosh i got one of these emails too! is that really what they're doing? does it mean i'm on a waitlist, like, i could get an offer if some people turn them down?

They're just trying to convince you that the partners sometimes take vacations. Don't believe it.

HAHAHAHA. exactly how I feel. I think I'll get this framed and put it up in my first office (that is hopefully not under my own shingle).
