Swanson, Martin & Bell (Chicago)
Can't find much information on them except that they have between 35-50 attorneys and practice exclusively litigation- any idea as to starting salary, size of the summer class (I know they participate in a bunch of OCIs in Illinois), etc...?

Re: Swanson, Martin & Bell (Chicago)
Salary is a bit below 100k, (iirc from career services guy.) Summer class size is small. Doesn't have the pay or rep of a lot of Chicago firms, but if you are looking to get your hands dirty immediately, it's a good place for it. Anecdotally, I know of a couple people who went from this type of firm to a larger more preftigious one, if that is your thing.Anonymous User wrote:Can't find much information on them except that they have between 35-50 attorneys and practice exclusively litigation- any idea as to starting salary, size of the summer class (I know they participate in a bunch of OCIs in Illinois), etc...?

They're are actually a little over 100 attorney's at the firm. Not sure what the compensation is like, but it's a bit below 100k, as previously stated. They are trial lawyers and focus on litigation. Very good if you want to get substantive experience early. The firm's culture is very friendly - they have some really great people there. The only downside is that the compensation isn't that great.

Not that I have heard of. Wondering what the cb to offer ratio is.

Did you do a callback or screener there? I thought they only had two callback days, the last of which was today.

Both, I had a screener via WebEx and then was invited to a callback about a week afterwards. Unless of course this was just another screener.Anonymous User wrote:Did you do a callback or screener there? I thought they only had two callback days, the last of which was today.

Re: Swanson, Martin & Bell (Chicago)
I had a screener a month ago and a callback two weeks ago. I remember the lady who was scheduling my callback made mention of the fact that they weren't even done with all the screeners at that point. I can't imagine they have a large summer associate class, but I may be wrong.

I would imagine that their summer class is not that big. With a firm of ~100 attorneys, I would imagine at most the summer class is 4-5 kids. Most likely it is smaller than that.

Are they done with their callbacks yet? Wondering when they'll start making offers.

No I'm still waiting as well. I never asked about the timeline while there either.

Re: Swanson, Martin & Bell (Chicago)
For those that care/are still waiting on Swanson, I was recently on my school's Simplicity and they had just posted looking for Summer Associates.
I guess they weren't satisfied with the first batch of kids they interviewed?
