Latham (DC)- How is it viewed in DC?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:01 pm

Have offer, loved my visit, think highly of the place.

I have offers in NYC, I interviewed at several dc firms and latham is the best one I was offered at. I am trying to assess Latham's "place" in the DC hierarchy (generally) and what they are strongest in/most known for.

I get the sense that true, DC based firms rule the day (Covington, W&C, A&P, Akin Gump, Wiley Rein, PattonBoggs) then the rest but Latham has some prestigious alums in DC so I am curious how they are viewed. Any and all help is appreciated.

I think they are viewed about the same in DC as in other parts of the country. Of the firms you listed, I would say W&C and Covington are probably a bit ahead, and Wiley Rein is probably even, with the other firms slightly below. However, more important that just what random TLS's think is what partners and clients think of them. Therefore, here you go (from Chambers):

Latham District of Columbia Rankings
Antitrust (Band 3)
Corporate/M&A & Private Equity (Band 1)
Environment (Band 2)
Healthcare (Band 2)
Intellectual Property (Band 4)
Media & Entertainment (Band 2)
Media & Entertainment: Mainly Regulatory (Band 2)
Tax (Band 2)
Technology & Outsourcing (Band 2)
Telecom, Broadcast & Satellite: Regulatory (Band 1)
