callback hotels for NYC firms

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Aug 18, 2011 11:32 am

I have a reasonable number of callbacks with NYC firms coming up, and I'm trying to decide which one I should ask to be my host firm. Ideally I'd like a centrally located hotel since most of the firms I'm looking at are in midtown (some a bit further east, some further west). So to answer my question and to help future generations, I thought it'd be helpful if we put together a list of where particular firms are known to house people during callbacks. (One such thread was started last year but didn't get very far.) At the moment I have callbacks with a few V10s and V20s (don't want to out myself by listing specifics), so any info on them would be particularly welcome for me, but please include anything you've got!

I'll start - first, here's a link to last year's thread: http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... s+callback

Also, last year Wachtell used the Hilton on 54th and 6th Avenue, which was about a block or two away from their office.

Cahill uses Gild Hall downtown. Really far downtown. But nice because it's two blocks from the firm

How do you go about arranging hotels? The firms I've gotten cbs from so far have given me numbers for travel agencies they use, but included no information about hotels. Do you book it and have them reimburse you?

S&C used Gild Hall (downtown) last year, pretty meh but interesting. DPW uses a few different hotels right around grand central, and I imagine STB uses similar since they're in the exact same location.

You call the travel agency, the travel agency books your travel and hotel (as needed).

A bunch of Midtown East firms used the Kimberly Hotel, 145 East 50th Street, New York, NY. Nice quiet place, good location, with a pretty sweet rooftop lounge.

Skadden also seems to be using the Royalton this year. Davis Polk is using The Alex.

I dunno, I like the Alex's modern style better than Michelangelo.

Also does anyone know where either Jones Day, Cadwalader, or Chadbourne is putting people this year?
