Adding OCI Interviews Outside of the Bidding Process
I did a shitty job of bidding and will need to add interviews through the add/drop and emailing recruiters.
1) Is it ok to email recruiters for firms that I didn't even bid on? (Firms get records of students that bid on them, even if those students do not get an interview.) I guess I wouldn't be able to say that I was unable to get an interview despite my bids, but I could still just generically say that I was unable to add their firm during the normal process.
2) When I email recruiters, do I need to attach both my transcript and resume, or just resume? My transcript is strong enough for the firms that I will be emailing, FWIW.
3) How often does this work?
THANKS!

1) Yes

3) Not often, but sometimes. Enough for most people to consider it worth a shot.

OP here.
Thanks.
What if there is no recruiting coordinator listed on the firm's website? Should I just email the interviewer listed on Simplicity, or is there some other way to go about this?
Thanks.

(1) Yes. What's the downside? Your odds are certainly higher than if you resume bombed them separate from OCIs (and even then, they'd wonder why you didn't interview with them at your school's OCI).
(2) Both.
(3) At my school there is quite an aftermarket. It's mostly facilitated formally through the CSO, but think if they backed off the firms themselves would step up.
(4) Writing directly to the interviewer is always preferable to writing to the recruiting contact, IMO.

Thanks yall. This makes me feel a lot better about not doing enough research early on and severely fucking up my bidding.

What about cover letter? Do I need to send one in the email with the resume and transcript or can I just briefly explain in the body of the email that I bid on them and didn't get an interview but I would still like to set something up independent of EIW?

Did they ask for a CL on Symplicity? At ND most of the firms (especially the good ones) don't.Anonymous User wrote:What about cover letter? Most don't ask for one, and if they do they just say bring it to the interview. We weren't allowed to give the firms anything but the resume pre-interview.flcath wrote:Did they ask for a CL on Symplicity? Email them the same documents they request in their Symplicity bid listing.

How do you find out who the interviewer is without asking the entire 1L class who earned a pre-select?
I would imagine CSO would not provide this information so that the interviewer does not receive a flood of similar emails.

I've also heard of just stopping by a firm's hospitality suite on the day of. How does this compare to emailing the listed interviewer beforehand?
