Online applications can get lost much easier than a direct email to the recruiting staff for the office you apply to. I learnt this from my 1L SA applications and found out that some of the firms did not receive my online applications (yes, I should have known better). Anyway, I probably was not going to get a 1L SA even if I emailed recruiting staff.
