gpa dipped below a 3...should I also email transcript?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jul 21, 2011 6:46 pm

I realize that you shouldn't put your gpa on your resume if your below a 3...but when emailing recruiters, should I go ahead and send them a transcript as well? Or should I just send a cover letter and resume?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Send your transcript to half the firms you apply to. Science!

i say don't unless they require you to send one. if you send one, you're automatically out of the running; if you don't, you're most likely out of the running, but there's still that glimmer of hope that they'll look at other things on your resume.

Definitely don't send a transcript until they ask. Your best bet is probably going to be smaller firms where you have some kind of contact (e.g. an alum from your school who you've talked to). Local DAs/PDs in smaller cities don't seem to care much about GPA either.
