2L SAs: What time do offers tend to happen?
Do firms usually make offers before or after the summer is over? Any thoughts on standard timeframes (if such a thing exists)?

Soonest I've heard is the 2nd to last day towards the end, last day at or after exit interview is common, and many firms wait to make offers until a few weeks after the program (time to get the house in order, review all of your reviews, etc.).
If your firm fired a ton of people recently you might get some champagne out of it too. Weird world we live in.

My firm waits until mid- to late-August to extend offers (three weeks after the SAs are gone).

Depends on the firm. The offer may come on or shortly before the last day, or it may not come until September. At your exit interview, you will presumably be told when decisions will be made, and you may get some indication of your prospects (e.g. I was told I was being recommended for an offer and not to worry, but offers won't officially be made until mid August).

i think the default assumption at my firm is that people will get an offer unless they try to not get one. Having said that, its office by office. E.g. the NY office gets its offers at a different date than the Chicago office.

Traditionally Cravath gives offers a week or two before the end (Partner will usually take you to lunch to do it).
