Penn OCI 2011

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:26 pm

Preliminary interview schedules released... Let's get this party started.

Got 18 of my top 20 bids, 25 interviews total. Two I missed probably should have been ranked higher. All-in-all, pretty pleased.

24 interviews. 17/20 of my top 20. Also pretty pleased considering I also have 6 regionals and 2 from mass mailing.

TRADE ALERT:

I did pick up one IP firm by accident because, really, who pays attention to bid #1000000. They have a super high callback and offer rate. I'll swap for any New York, Philly, or Southern California firm.

Also got 25, 17 of my top 20. Pretty pleased. How does one go about trading firms/bids?

I'd like to know that myself but I have heard of people doing it in previous years.

Goat-->Classifieds-->OCR Interviews
CPP will send an email about it as well

Have fun! (Really... I'm serious... if you have fun during OCI you're probably a pretty good interviewee and interviewers will like you!)

And PM with questions if you have any... (or if you are interviewing with a firm that is possibly my firm... PM me to find out). I'll be fairly non responsive until at least Thursday (that thing called the bar exam is Tues/Weds...).

I thought I remembered CP&P saying at an OCI session that people get around 21. 24/25 has been mentioned a few times in this thread, but I only got 17 (not counting regional). On another note, can we guesstimate what gpa's would be median and top 10%? Just trying to figure out where I stand gradewise going into the interviews.

I hear that 18-22 is a normal amount of interviews. Median is slightly below a B+ average from what I can gather. Basically if you have all As (of some sort) you are top 10%.

Would the posters ITT who said how many interviews they each got (or future posters) care to also mention what market they bid on?

27 interviews, mostly New York. 2 Philly, 1 HK and 2 DC. I didn't get 2 of my top 20 firms. I am thinking of trading away the 2 philly interviews for New York ones, especially the 2 top 20 bids firms I didn't get.

Pfft, you're in the prime of top-law-schools.com right now...

Though OCI is a fairly close second to being an SA :)

Got 25. Bid mostly DC, with a couple NY firms and randoms thrown in.

Haha as much as I enjoyed the trips to NYC I have to say I was very glad when it was over and I escaped with an offer. Though I have to say, the whole SA experience is about as awesome as it gets. The only downside is knowing that it's going to end and you have to come back for another heaping serving of student loans and another year before you can finally begin your career.

Sounds like you guys are having a better time with bids than we did. Silly 2Ls.

If you want extra interviews, make sure to check the Goat classifieds a lot... I picked up a ton of interviews that way, both give-aways and swaps.

Yikes - with the final schedule, I've got 35. Got 10 through the waitlists... Is that an error?!
