Firms hiring 3Ls
So which firms are currently hiring 3Ls?
If you are willing to share, please put the firm name, the specific office location that is currently hiring, and the practice areas that the firm is hiring for.
I think compiling this list should help many 3Ls including myself to be much more effective in mass mailing the firms.
Firms that are hiring 3Ls currently:
1) Cravath - NY (corporate)
2) Cleary - NY (most likely corporate)
3) Kirkland - CHI (litigation)
4) Littler - SF (employment and labor law)
5) Proskauer Rose

Re: Firms hiring 3Ls
A lot of the major names in NYC are hiring 3Ls, but also either only hiring or probably only hiring people who are interested in going into corporate as opposed to litigation.
I don't know if it's true broadly or not, but my impression was that 3L hiring was disproportionately strong amongst 'top' firms - perhaps because they often wind up with more work and/or lose more summers since they have more options given their credentials? But I could be off on that observation.

Sort of on Sealocust's point: Seems to me that most firms in general have gone away from hiring a bunch of litigators for entry level positions. From what I've been told by the recruiters I'm close to, attrition rates are generally too high, and laterals are better litigators anyway (because someone else spent the time and money to train them).

Kirkland-Chicago is hiring 3Ls
Littler-SF (must have strong interest in L&E, obviously)
I know last year Sidley-Chi was interviewing a few 3Ls that had reached out to them during OCI. I assume those people had mailed them.

OP here.
Do you happen to know if Kirkland Chicago is hiring someone interested in corporate or litigation?
Also, by major firms in NYC, are you referring to most V10, V20? Any particular firm names?
Thanks for your answers in advance.

I'm not sure about Kirkland. Based on chatter on these boards, I would imagine it is for corporate work. But that's pure speculation.
Also, found out through a friend that Proskauer is interviewing 3Ls

Re: Firms hiring 3Ls
Has anyone ever tried going to try the "apply to all NALP firms in the country" approach? Curious as to how that went for you/what you expect. I wasn't going to apply to any firms out of my region (I go to a regional t30) but I now have a way to apply to as many firms as I want without any of the time drain I feared. I think I'll try it just in case.

So far I'm not so sure it's worth it. Granted my 400 apps prob only took 10 or so hours, but I have received zero interest (Top 20%). Honestly i think its better just to spend a shitload of time on your app when stuff pops up on simplicity. Simplicity has been getting a decent amount of action at school in recent weeks.

This may be a newb question, but when you say litigation -- BP, what does "BP" stand for?
