Mass mailing firms Word Doc or PDF
I don't have the ability to make PDFs conveniently is it okay to send my application materials in a word doc format?

Yes.
Just be careful not to get too cute with fonts or formatting in case they are running some funky version of Word.

Plus, don't all versions of Word from 2007 on have 'Export to PDF'?

PrimoPDF works pretty well. I was using that until I realized that Office lets you make docs into PDFs.

Something I've noticed recently is documents written in Word 2010 come out looking fucked up on Word 2007 (random spaces deleted for some reason). Def figure out a way to turn them into PDFs if you can. Hell, you could just upload the DOCs to Symplicity which will convert them to PDFs. After that can you can just delete them.
For me, it wasn't there by default on Word 2007. I remember having to DL some plugin.thebigdog wrote:Microsoft word's save as .pdf function isn't convenient?

Yeah, I think there was some legal wrangling with Adobe over it. I THINK the first versions of 2007 had it, it got stripped out at some point, and then MS added the capability back in with the plugin. Or something like that.goodolgil wrote:Something I've noticed recently is documents written in Word 2010 come out looking fucked up on Word 2007 (random spaces deleted for some reason). You could always be baller and go with Corel WordPerfect or Microsoft Works.

I learned on Word Perfect, back in the days before GUIs (no mouse) and long before Corel bought it. There was this plastic template that slipped over the row of F keys and showed their functions for F, F+Ctrl, F+Alt, F+Shift. I threw a fit (I was like 9, okay) when my dad said he was switching to Windows and Word.TTH wrote:You could always be baller and go with Corel WordPerfect or Microsoft Works.
