top 20%-where to bid?
I want biglaw. My school is ranked 40-50. Apply to every NLJ 250 firm--which ones do I have a shot at (maybe dla piper)?

I'm guessing your school placed anywhere from 8-13% in biglaw last year, so it's not looking good. Apply broadly to non-OCI firms and follow up persistently.

there's hardly any firms coming to my school's oci--just apply to every nlj 250 out there? Which ones do you think i'll land a job at?

Not to be a dick, but probably none? No one can give you the name of a firm looking to hire top 20% from schools ranked in the 40s. Your odds are the highest at those who are coming to your OCI and go down dramatically from there.stutterstep wrote:there's hardly any firms coming to my school's oci--just apply to every nlj 250 out there? Apply to firms in markets you want to work in/have ties to. If you were born in Florida, go to school in Virginia, and have no family in CA, then applying to LA/SF/SD NLJ 250 firms is a waste of time.

anyone else? maybe someone who's gone through oci/mass mailing at a lower tier 1? Like I said, my school is having a real lolci for the rising 2ls, so it will all come down to mass mailing to get a sa position. no chance-not even at lower ranked biglaw firm?

I know two people in the last three years land BigLaw SA from schools ranked in that range. Here's how they did it: They had better grades than you.
edit: I'm not sure what you are looking for. If a firm isn't coming to OCI, there is only one other way to get a job there: mail them an application.
