Hottest Legal Fields for the future
What are the best areas of the law to study for an incoming 1L? I suspect areas such as elder, estate, and health care law will experience increased demand with an aging population and also areas such as environmental law. Any thoughts?

Financial institution regulation is blossoming in a huge way. Major tax reform is likely on the way, which may make more or less tax work but will definitely but some tax lobbiest children through college.
IP of various forms seems likely to remain hot, as does international arbitration and trade. Now would be a GREAT time to become fluent in foreign language.

Health care law most definitely. Clients considering setting up ACOs, participating in health insurance exchange(s) and trying to comply with PPACA need major counseling on a panoply of issues ranging from antitrust to venture capital. I have friends at a couple firms with highly regarded health law practices and they're reportedly extremely busy with interesting work.

We're both men of the law. We jib jaw. We go tit tat. You win some. I win some. And at the end of the day, there's mutual respect left between us.shoeshine wrote:Bird law in this country is not governed by reason.bk187 wrote:Bird law.

The only tribunal with jurisdiction for Space law litigation is the International Space Station. Have you seen a trial in zero gravity? It's a mess.

Patent litigation has been taking off recently. But... you'll need a science-related degree
