Clerkship Bonsuses

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jul 09, 2011 9:56 pm

I've heard that the "market" clerkship bonus for CoA clerks is $50,000. Is this still the case? What firms offer this bonus? If most do, are there any V100 firms that do not? How does one go about finding if a firm offers a clerkship bonus?

Thanks!

NALP says which firms have a clerkship bonus. Most firms though won't say how much. Try going to firm websites cause it will vary widely across regions.

Nearly all V100 firms will pay a clerkship bonus for those entering litigation practices. The amount of the bonus varies from firm to firm, (and by clerkship in some cases) but 50k is a good estimate. I would ask abut this in callback interviews after clerking, and not worry about it before then, since it could change between now and then.

Greenberg Truarig told me they don't pay clerkship bonuses. They're a pretty crappy firm, but V100 nonetheless. I politely declined what they had to offer.

I just wanted to echo what some people said that clerkship bonuses depends wildly on the market, especially in secondary markets. While I hear things are pretty stable at $50k in major markets, I am in a pretty large "secondary market" and pretty much all clerkship bonuses vanished ITE. So, just do some research before taking the jump if you are going to rely on the bonus for planning purposes.

Does anyone have any insight into bonuses for 10-11 clerks? It is getting to be that time of year. I am specifically interested in NYC-Philly-DC.
