SFIPLA Job Fair 2011

Post by ehshornet » Tue Jul 05, 2011 11:25 am

Does anyone know when we will find out if we are preselected like PLIP or do we have to wait until after July 15th (correct date?) to find out which interviews we have? The symplicity website is set up differently for SFIPLA and there does not appear to be a slot for whether you are preselected or not like it did for PLIP.

Thanks!

nope. I havent heard a thing ... all of my status still says "pending." What about you? any word from those guys? You know, Cali. might be a nice place to live ... better than NYC. Heck, given a choice between NYC or Cali, I am going for Cali...I think I would even take Mass, Chi, or Texas over NYC... anytime of the day.

Nope haven't heard anything. When are we supposed to find out by? If we don't find out soon, tickets are going to be super expensive. :/

That is ridiculously late, don't you think?! They expect people out of state to just book a flight two weeks in advance?! The flights are going to be sooo expensive! sighsss

I completely agree. It's not cool. But that's what it is.

Maybe you could book the flight w/ something like Southwest where you don't have a change fee. And if you don't go to the fair you could change the flight to something else? I dunno. It sucks

Really? You know, being in grad school is hard enough since living so poor isnt the most comfortable thing ... Now, they want us to pay those over priced tickets... This just keeps on getting better.

Do you guys all have a "pending" status? I don't have a status thing. it only says "applied" under the "Bidding/Application" column. Did I mess something up? I'm confused...

There's also a "Total Slots" column which I'm confused about too..

I'm seeing the same thing...with a Total Slots column in which most firms are "0" and some have ranges from 1-6...im guessing those are slots remaining after everyone has been matched (looks very similar to what my school's symplicity page showed when we received our bid results) - and it seems to make sense given the firms that still have openings (KMOB with only a small satellite office in Bay Area and Klarquist in Portland)

Hopefully its a sign that our bid results will be revealed soon, but is the August 1st date bouncing around in this thread confirmed?

The Aug 1 date came directly from SFIPLA when I called them. So you can choose whether you'd like to believe that or not.

Woo. Interview selections are up! Well I mean for at least one interviewer...think I am going to book the flight now! Not bad for not realizing we were supposed to load transcripts and cover letters.

Awesome, Congrats!

3 so far from Morgan, Orrick and Blakely.
Hope we see some changes by August 1st, still hoping for Knobbe, Townsend and Kenyon.

Anyone know how many people usually bid at this fair? I wasn't expecting to be preselected to anything honestly, given so few firms and stiffer competition from local schools/people with ties.
